Medicines Verification System celebrates its 6 year birthday - Safer medicines today and in the future

On February 9th, Finland’s medicines verification system will reach its six-year milestone. Introduced in 2019, the system plays a central role in combating counterfeit medicines on a daily basis.

The Finnish Medicines Verification System is part of a European framework designed to prevent counterfeit medicines from entering the legal supply chain. Counterfeit medicines should not be taken lightly, as using dangerous illegal products can lead to irreversible consequences.

The system is based on unique identifiers on the medicine packs, which allow the origin of medicines to be verified throughout the supply chain.
