Nordic recommendations on the use of status ‘Locked’ in the EMVS
The medicines verification system secures the legal supply chain of medicines. By comparing the information on the codes on medicine packs with the verification database information, we ensure that medicines are not falsifications. The system also alerts if an attempt is made to dispense previously sold or expired medicines to a patient.
The functionality to mark a pack as locked can provide added value and security in preventing medicines in quarantine or under investigation entering in or going back into the supply chain.
The functionality is not a legal requirement and the use of it is voluntary.
